The Rain Lady is a short film directed by my sister, Lyla Mzayek. In this film, we created something together for the first time about a story inspired by my childhood.
Small animations were created and produced by me to fit into this heartfelt story.

The Rain Lady follows Noor, an illegal Arab immigrant, and her five-year-old daughter Yara encounter a day that spirals with difficulties such as threats of eviction and job loss due to Noor’s illegal status, they navigate feeling voiceless, powerless, and alienation in the U.S. by envisioning a folk tale that brings them hope.

The Rain Lady has won 1st Place at CAIR’s 2025 Social Justice Film Competition and was featured at Asian World Film Festival, Dam Shorts Film Festival, Hollywood International Diversity Film Festival, and Burbank International Film Festival
